Are we totally at fault for being overweight?

Is it just the form I am in today or does that magazine article heading make your blood boil also? I completely
disagree with the notion of "fat tax". Are low to middle income Irish folks not getting hammered enough.
How about having gym or personal training subscriptions tax deductable?
That way everyone can get the opportunity to work with a qualified professional to achieve their goal.
Imagine telling someone that "its their fault they are fat". We are getting conned by the products sold at the local
grocery shop.
If the government invested making food labelling clearer 10 or 20 years ago,
more than likely obesity would not be such a problem in Ireland today. The labelling is still a disaster today! The
government could save BILLIONS by getting the education out there regarding food. Less queues at the doctors
and hospitals, the benefits to the health system would be immense. Surely I am not alone in thinking this?
Products that read "only 10% fat", may sound enticing, but it if the product is very high in saturated fat anyway, it means
there is a lot of this artery blocking/cholestrol building fat going into your body by eating the goods anyway.
The "Go Ahead" product range is a case in point. Come to think of it, is that brand still around?
Get clued into reading food labels. Take your time as you shop at the supermarket. Get to know your local fitness
experts in your area and ask them for a 15 minute assessment to find out lots of personal information like
(1) How many daily calories you can eat without breaking the scales at your local weight watchers meeting
(2) What your body composition is, your BMI, Bodyfat etc. Basically how big the hula hoop needs to be for you.
(3)
Get a customised managable exercise plan designed. Your lifestyle and time management is considered here.
(4) Work out a sensible eating plan with a qualified nutritionist if your fitness guru refers you.
Like myself, fitness folk could talk about eating and exercise all day. We love the work we do. We have to, as its
such a badly paid industry it really is the love of the work that keeps us going. I am happy to chat on social networking
websites such as facebook etc. The advice is normally free! No "advice tax" surcharges!
Send me a text or call if you need any further advice on anything else fitness related. - Michael.
